Founded by Richard Woolcott and Tucker Hall during a snowboarding session in 1991, Volcom has incorporated a major philosophy since its inception, defined as “Youth against Establishment”. For the first time, surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding were combined under one brand. Volcom’s avant-garde approach to clothing and image has always been the distinguishing feature that sets the brand apart in the extreme sports industry and beyond.
In June 2011, Volcom was taken over by the French group Kering, which owns other brands such as Gucci, Yves Saint-Laurent and Balenciaga.
The group decided that in addition to selling the label through multi-brand distribution networks, it was time to set up own-brand shops. Since 2012, Volcom has chosen Korus to design and set up its shops in Bordeaux, Paris, Lille, Hossegor, Barcelona, and its European showroom in Paris.
